𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧 — 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫
Wendi didn’t just finish Kona — she absolutely smashed it.
After a tough swim in the Pacific Ocean — where the swell and waves made sighting difficult — it turned into a true washing-machine ride back to transition. Volunteers were on hand to pull athletes up the steps as the waves and swell tried to drag them back into the ocean.
Next… the bike. Wendi stuck to her fuelling plan and made sure to cool off with water at every opportunity. The heat was rising across the black volcanic lava fields, and the strong winds made every kilometre that bit more challenging.
But when it counted, Wendi delivered.
Off the bike and into transition, she set out on the run to the cheers of the crowd — and her husband. As the sun began to set at the turnaround point, Wendi pushed on, heading back toward the coast and ever closer to that famous Kona finish line.
We couldn’t be prouder — not just of the result, but of the resilience, humour, and sheer determination she showed throughout.
Wendi reminded us that performance isn’t just about perfect preparation — it’s about grit, grace, and finding your legs when it matters most.
