Race Update for Tristar 2 and Tristar 3 competitors
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
This contains important information for Tristar 2 (age 11 to 12) and Tristar 3 (age 13 to 14) competitors.
The Bishopbriggs Triathlon has been chosen by Triathlon Scotland as a selection race for the IRC (Inter Regional Championships). For further information about IRC and the selection process please see the Triathlon Scotland website.
https://www.triathlonscotland.org/clubs/youth-triathlon/irc/
Competitors WHO WISH TO BE CONSIDERED for IRC selection MUST race on restricted gearing. Full details of this are given on the Triathlon Scotland website via the link above.
Competitors who wish to take part for fun and NOT BE CONSIDERED for IRC selection may participate on any SAFE bike. However, they will not be eligible for IRC selection should they perform better than expected.
To avoid any confusion the race is DRAFT-ILLEGAL (Non- drafting) for everyone. This means that you must keep a minimum of distance of 12m between you and the cyclist in front.
Please direct any questions regarding IRC to caleasouter@triathlonscotland.org
To avoid the chance of cyclists meeting bin lorries which need to access the recycling centre, we have reduced the length of the bike lap. Cyclists will now make the 180 degree turn at the far end of the course BEFORE the recycling centre. This means the bike lap is reduced in distance to 3.6km. Tristar 2 competitors will complete 1 (one) lap of bike. This is 3.6km. Tristar 3 competitors will complete 2 (two) laps of bike. This is 7.2km and is a change from previous years. Competitors must count their own laps and race volunteers will not be able to help with this. The timing system is able to confirm the number of laps competitors have completed.
The swim and run courses are unchanged from previous years.
Please direct any questions about changes to the bike lap to events@glasgowtriathlonclub.co.uk
