The Pronto Bikes CC ‘Ultra Sunday’ – is in the spirit of the long Audax rides:
We’re going to do one of the longest rides possible (for normal people) in daylight hours!
We're as close to the summer solstice as we can make it - We'll leave Pronto Bikes in Frome at 6am, (sunrise is 4.53am) and be chasing the sun for 200 miles (322km), returning to Frome by about 9pm (sunset is 9.29pm) for a celebratory supper!
With a little preparation you will make it and be justifiably proud of your achievement!
That said, if the double century is too far for you this time, then why not do the 'Century Sunday' ride – this will be 100 miles (160km) leaving Pronto Bikes in Frome at 1pm and returning to Frome by about 8pm for a celebratory supper.
Registration required: £10 for Pronto Bikes CC members, £35 for non-members (includes 1 year Pronto Bikes CC membership). GPX route file available following registration.
Registration includes a simple hot meal at Pronto Bikes on return to Frome and a commemorative Pronto 'Ultra Sunday' badge.
ULTRA SUNDAY - A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY FOR FUNDRAISING!
For extra motivation, why not use the ride as an opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause? Get your friends, family and colleagues to put their hands in their pockets and sponsor you!

For the ‘Ultra Sunday’ ride, we're counting on approx. 13 hours of riding time (we will aim to average 25kph) plus we're allowing for 2 hours to cover a couple of decent-length fuelling stops on the route (at approx 75miles/120km and 125miles/200km). From 6am there are approximately 16 hours of daylight available. You'll be welcomed back at Pronto Bikes in Frome with hot food - welcome refreshment having ridden 200miles/322km and climbed more than 3,000m.
- Riders must wear a helmet, have bike lights, and be self-sufficient with basic tools, puncture repair kit and some food supplies, and have a copy of the route on their GPS unit.
- Riders are expected to have done at least a 100km and a 200km day ride before ULTRA Sunday as preparation (these will be considered qualifying rides and will help you check your readiness!). We will organise Pronto Bikes CC club rides during April and May to help you fit this in and these will give you an opportunity to enjoy riding a longer distance in a group and work out pacing and feeding strategies etc!
- The ULTRA Sunday ride is a ride-together ride (always re-grouping at the top of hills and elsewhere as needed) but in the event of mechanical failure riders are responsible for getting themselves and their bike back to Frome! We suggest having a supportive friend or family- member available for this in case you need it!
- If you have any questions then contact club members Lee Shale and Ben Emmens for any advice or guidance. We'll do our best to answer your questions. You can do this – it will be a huge achievement!
