Box End Mixed Relay Championships 2025

Andover Triathlon Club have been racing again! But this time in a team event.

On Saturday 17th May, the Club entered 4 teams of 4 into the Box End Mixed Relay Championships.

Each member of the team consecutively does a 350m lake swim, 8km bike and 1km run before tagging the next relay member.

The Club decided to enter teams that were evenly spread in ability. Despite not fielding a ‘winning team’, Andover Triathlon Tequila Lovers were placed 5th overall in the Over 50s category.

Individually, there were some exceptional efforts. Helen Daniels, who started for Andover Triathlon Tequila Lovers was 4th out of the water overall and did the fastest swim split of the Andover contingent.

Ollie Peckover, who is strong in all disciplines, did an unbelievable bike split which was the fastest of the total field of competitors racing that evening.

John Kane, who normally shines in the longer distances on the run, still pulled in an incredible sub 4 minute 1km time which led the Andover competitors’ run times.

The event started at 6.30pm, which meant that by 8.30pm all the team members were able to enjoy the little-discussed 4th discipline of triathlon, the social, which is where all the teams excel in equal measure.

The Club is now focussing on preparations for their annual sprint triathlon event which is held at Farleigh School on Sunday 13th July.
