Major marathon triumph for Andover Triathlete

John Kane achieved his goal by finishing the Tokyo marathon on Sunday, March 2, in three hours and 24 minutes.

The Abbott World Marathon Majors are a series of the world's most well-known and largest marathons and include Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York, Tokyo and Sydney.

He is now a proud member of an exclusive club and received the iconic six-star finishers medal as well as the Tokyo marathon medal!

Check out what he had to say:

"Tokyo marathon 2025, the last of my quest for the seven majors and boy did Tokyo deliver.

The race went very well, 3.24 (20 secs behind Harry Styles apparently).

My stress fracture held up really well until 38k so limped home for the last 4k.

Very warm morning, temp got up to 23 degrees and lots of people suffered with sunstroke etc so was glad to finish relatively early and hydrate.

I actually got a 'well done Andover' shout at the mile 20 mark which was a nice thing to hear and of course rounded it all up with some well-earned Guinness in an Irish bar.

There was an unforgettable presentation at the end for my six-star medal and all eyes ahead now are fixed towards London in April, Capetown and Athens in 2026.

Thanks as always for your kind support messages, makes me very proud to represent this club."

All at Andover Triathlon are extremely proud of his fantastic achievement!
