Here are 15 key tips for those who are new to competition!

  1. Arrive fifteen minutes before a match.
  2. Always be respectful of others.
  3. Turn your phone off on court.
  4. Change ends on all odd numbered games:1, 3 etc.
  5. Do not cross behind another court to retrieve a ball while play is occurring. Wait for a break between points and ask.
  6. If you are not sure a ball is out, then assume it is in.
  7. Anything on the opponent’s side of the net is their decision and vice versa.
  8. Always use the score boards to avoid any confusion.
  9. The server is responsible for calling the score.
  10. If a ball crosses onto your court during play, call a let and begin the point again (first serve).
  11. If you lose track of the score, go back to a score that both players can agree on.
  12. A normal tie break is first to seven points, win by two points.
  13. Change ends after ever six points in both a normal and championship tiebreak.
  14. A championship tie break is up to ten points, win by two points.
  15. Finally, appreciate the opportunity to be able to play tennis and enjoy the game

Ladies of Squash

Last Friday, the LLTC Ladies of Squash enjoyed an evening filled with fun, laughter, and of course, squash. Ladies from our introductory, beginner, and more experienced classes engaged in several hours of competitive matches.

It was wonderful to see so many women from LLTC actively supporting and participating throughout the night.

If you wish to join the next event (date TBC), please reach out to Avril at Squash@LLTC.ie for more details.

Sunday Social

There will be no Sunday Social this week due to the Limerick vs. Waterford match at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. However, it’s sure to be a great day at the club regardless!

Hurling Match – Sunday 26th May

We are expecting a large crowd in the tennis club on the way to the Gaelic Grounds.  A marquee is being erected on Saturday as the weather is unpredictable, so we would ask members to avoid parking in the middle two rows of the car park from 4pm on Saturday to facilitate this work.  The courts will be closed from 12 noon on Sunday also.

Office Opening

Next week normal office hours will change.  The office will be open Monday and Friday and closed Tuesday to Thursday.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Regards
