Spring is springing and the rain has halted in perfect time for the workmen. It’s been a hive of activity here all week, with the laying of the new artificial clay courts.  We hope to have the courts in play by the end of next week.  We will let members know when the courts are open for play.

Junior South of Ireland

 

The Junior South of Ireland takes place March 22nd-25th. Limerick Senior Open 2024: A Showcase of Squash Excellence

The anticipation is building as the Limerick Senior Open 2024 gears up to unfold its excitement at Limerick Lawn Tennis Club on March 9th and 10th. This prestigious event promises to be a spectacle of skill and sportsmanship, featuring up to 50 competitors spanning across professional and amateur categories.

The Limerick Senior Open stands as a beacon of Squash excellence, attracting top talents from both Ireland and beyond. Among this year's lineup, spectators can expect to witness some of the finest players in action.

At the forefront of the men's competition stand Oisin Logan and Michael Creaven, both revered as two of Ireland's top 5 male Squash players. Their dynamic playstyles and unwavering determination are sure to captivate audiences and set the court ablaze with fierce rallies and breathtaking shots.

Adding an international flair to the women's category is Catarina Nunes, one of Portugal's top-ranking female players. With her impeccable technique and strategic prowess, Nunes is poised to make a formidable impression on the Limerick courts, challenging opponents and pushing the boundaries of excellence.

Joining Nunes is Sofia Aveiro-Pita, Portugal's #11 ranked female player, whose tenacity and agility promise to electrify the competition. As she sets foot on the Limerick courts, Aveiro-Pita aims to showcase her talent and compete at the highest level, inspiring fans, and fellow athletes alike with her remarkable skills.

Some of our own LLTC members will be taking to court, as well as Squash clubs from across the country. 

As the countdown begins to this weekend, Squash enthusiasts eagerly await the thrill and excitement that await at Limerick Lawn Tennis Club. With anticipation running high, the stage is set for an unforgettable weekend of world-class Squash at the Limerick Senior Open 2024.

We welcome all members to join us this Saturday and Sunday on the Squash courts for what is sure to be a thrilling sporting event!

Munster Leagues

Division 2
Our Division 2 team had a hard time in Highfield on Tuesday evening. The Cork team came away with the victory. The next Division 2 fixture is Tuesday March 12 away to Gleneagle in Killarney.

Division 4
The Division 4 team had a successful evening on home territory yesterday, coming away with a 3-2 victory over Killenaule. The next Division 4 fixture is Wednesday March 13 away to Killenaule.

Division 6
Our Division 6 team are in action in LLTC this evening, with Killenaule again the visiting team. Why not pop in this evening and support your team?

Munster Squash Junior One Day invitational

LLTC are proud to host a One Day Invitational for Junior Squash Players on Sunday March 24th, catering to U11s, U13s, and U15s for both boys and girls. It promises to be a fantastic opportunity for juniors to engage in friendly competition, fostering a fun-filled atmosphere and enabling them to forge friendships across different clubs. Keep an eye out for entry details, which will be opening soon via SportyHQ.

Social Squash
There will be no Social Squash this coming Sunday, March 10th, due to the Limerick Senior Open
 

Housekeeping

The bar staff have reported to Management, several incidents with unaccompanied children in the bar.  Members are reminded that all children need adult supervision in the bar at all times.

 

All subs are now overdue.  If you are not rejoining, please email me at office@lltc.ie , where I can remove you from the mailing list and database.

Court booking facilities have been temporarily deactivated, for those members who have fees outstanding.
