TENNIS

 

39th South of Ireland 12 – 14 April

 

Entry is now open for the South of Ireland Masters 1000, for grade 4-6.  Check out our new doubles section to enter. Spaces are limited so make sure to enter before it fills.

Spring Doubles is coming! Entry is open this week via Clubspark! It will be played from the 1st of April for 5 weeks. Finals nights is the 10th of May save the date! 

 

Junior South of Ireland Tour 500, Tour 100 & Tennis 10s

 

The Junior South of Ireland takes place from March 22nd to March 25th.

Closing date for entry to the Tour 500 is today the 14th of March.

 

Closing date for the Tour 100 & Tennis 10s is the 16th of March.  This will be a fun Tournament with the opportunity to play multiple matches.

We are looking for volunteer court monitors and for manning the check in desk.

Clay Courts

 

We are delighted to announce that our new artificial clay courts are now open for play.  Please note, the care and maintenance of these courts is the responsibility of ALL players in order to ensure their longevity.  Please take the time to watch the attached video link to see the procedure for brushing the courts after use.  Access is restricted to Adults at the moment.

2 flood lights on court 10 are currently not working.  This matter is in hand and will be resolved asap.  Please be aware when booking that the lights are not fully operation just yet.

 

For security reasons, courts 10-12 will be locked at all times.  The code for the combination lock is available from the office or Tennis Committee.

 

An official opening of the courts will take place in the coming weeks.  More details soon.

 

SQUASH

Limerick Senior Open 2024: Celebrating Success

This year marked a significant milestone for the Limerick Senior Open as it proudly wrapped up its fourth edition. With each passing year, the tournament has grown in both size and stature, and 2024 proved to be its largest and most successful instalment yet.

Welcoming over 40 skilled players across two intense days of competition, the event showcased the pinnacle of talent in professional and amateur squash. Particularly noteworthy were the Men's A and Women's A categories, which boasted their highest number of entries since the tournament's beginnings.

In a gripping Men's A final, Sam Osbourne Wylde of Birmingham, UK, emerged victorious, defeating our 2023 champion, Conor Moran, in a thrilling battle, with a final scoreline of 11-8, 11-8, 11-6. Meanwhile, the Women's A category saw Sofia Aveiro-Pita from Cambridgeshire, UK, clinch the title by overpowering Catarina Nunes from Porto, Portugal, in three closely contested games, securing a victory with scores of 11-7, 13-11, 11-5.

The Limerick Senior Open 2024 not only showcased the extraordinary skill and dedication of its participants but also reinforced its status as a premier event in the Irish squash calendar.

We would like to thank all of our entrants from across Ireland, UK and Europe. Thank you to all our volunteers, squash committee and spectators.

As the curtains close on yet another successful chapter, anticipation builds for what promises to be an even more remarkable Limerick Senior Open 2025.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Rose Hynes, who will proudly represent Ireland in the upcoming Masters Home Internationals 2024 in Nottingham. 

Rose showcased her skills in the qualifying tournament, the Irish Squash Masters Closed, and will now proudly fly the Irish flag in the UK.

Junior 1 Day Invitational

LLTC, in collaboration with Munster Squash, is hosting a one-day junior tournament on Sunday, March 24th, from 10am to 3pm. This is a fun filled event to allow junior players get their first taste of competition.

Entry is free of charge, and lunch will be provided during the event. However, it's essential for all participants to be registered on SportyHQ before entering. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity for budding talents to showcase their skills and enjoy a day of squash fun!

Court Maintenance

We're thrilled to announce the lighting upgrade for Courts 1 and 2 this week, ensuring an enhanced squash experience for all.

Sunday Social Squash

Sunday Social returns this Sunday, 15:30 – 17:30, after the break last weekend due to the Limerick Senior Open.

Box Leagues

The new Box League is now live on SportyHQ. As always, try not to leave it to the last moment to get your matches in. Courts can get busy at certain times, so plan ahead. We recommend creating a WhatsApp group between entrants in your box league. Remember, Sunday Social is a great day to get a match in!
